The four basic elements are Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. They are the energetic building blocks of everything in nature, including humans. Before going into details about Air, I highly recommend that you first read about The Elements in general so that you get a better idea about different correspondences and learn about elemental hierarchies.
The energy of Air
Air is the element of mind and intelligence, creativity, and new beginnings. It is a masculine element that represents knowledge, dreams, travel, wishes, communication, intuition, imagination, and ideas. Its symbols include the sky, wind, smoke, vibrations, and feathers. When used for cleansing, it often goes in combination with Fire, the other male element. Together they are represented in burning incense and smudging the space. Work associated with Air includes meditation, visualization, and divination. Wind instruments, especially flute, are those connected with this element.

Air is an active element that wants to expand. It travels wide and far. Your mind should do the same.
Everything starts with a thought, a single spark of Air energy. And as the Sun rises in the East, so too our creative processes of manifestation start from that direction. Since Air is represented by vibration, the best way to honor it is to let your voice out and not only work on communication but on your singing too, for there is nothing better to honor the Air than to sing. Maybe no one needs to hear it except you and the Air itself. Open your throat chakra and let your voice vibrate.
How to work with Air?
If you haven’t experienced the benefits of mediation yet, what are you waiting for? There are many different techniques you can try, depending on if you want to narrow your focus or expand it. The narrowing of focus is when you concentrate only on your breath, hearth beat, a candle flame, or something else. The expanding of focus is when you allow your mind to be aware of more and more things around you at the same time by expanding it and connecting slowly with everything there is while raising your vibration.
If you want to plan your ritual or magical work according to Air, work in the early mornings, during the new moon, in the spring, on Imbolc and Ostara, and in the eastern corner of room.
Use feathers and flowers when working with this element. Feathers are associated to Air due to birds flying freely through the sky, while flowers in general represent one of its symbols since they release billions of pollen grains into the air.

“Air is the element most needed by fire. This is why you need open spaces, the wind, and to fly. Because you have fire in you. This is why you look into the sky, why you make wishes, why you tread lightly. You, too, are the air, because inside you there is fire. Why do you think we breathe? Because we are kindling our fires.” ― C. JoyBell C.
Characteristics of Air in humans
Your goal should always be to equally cherish and take care of the energies of all elements in your body, mind, and soul. However, it is not rare that some people exhibit more from one element than another. Those who are particularly skillful with Air and who carry its energy are those who are very good in divination techniques, dreamers, and travelers. They often meditate and have no problem with visualization. Singers and actors, psychiatrists, teachers, and pilots, all of them carry the energy of Air inside them.

Spread the wings of your spirit and sore the skies of illumination. Learn as much as you can and as often as you can, for when we stop learning is when we start dying.
Merry meet, and merry part, and merry meet again my dear pagan soul. Rejoice in life, and life will rejoice in you. May God and Goddess bless you in everything you do and spirit guides follow you wherever you go.

In love and light,
Towint
